Sonos CEO Said ‘We Would Welcome Apple Music’
Sonos’s CEO, Mr. John MacFarlane said that they will welcome Apple Music and believe that it will be supported on Sonos soon. For the past 10 years, one company that has been at the forefront of music streaming is Sonos, which is best known for its multi-room speaker systems, allowing users to stream digital audio over a Wi-Fi network to any room in their house.
The Sonos speaker system allows audio to be sourced from both the user’s local music library and the internet. However Sonos claimed that 92 percent of all the music listened on Sonos is accessed over the internet via paid on demand or streaming radio services.
John MacFarlane said: “As soon as a person buys a Sonos, the very first thing they usually do is include their music collection off their computer or their mobile phone, then as they include an on-requirement service they use that a lot more and more, and use the local collection much less and less.”

According to Mr MacFarlane, Apple Music will not be supported on Sonos during launch, since Apple’s prime target is on mobile. Apple Music needed to be integrated with the Sonos song app in order to play on Sonos speakers.
Mr John MacFarlane recently disclosed that the company sold connected speakers worth $1bn in 2014. Since most of all music listening happens in the home, the Sonos is in a lot more solid position.
He also said” We are big followers of Apple, so we would certainly of path embrace them any time they hope to come in to the home, However I believe that will certainly be the next priority for them.”
“You have actually to earn Apple’s cooperation, they don’t merely offer it to you for free, However if there’s a delightful user experience and it makes a lot of sense, I believe they do it, and there’s many examples of that. I believe if it’s much less compared to that, then they don’t.”
If Apple Music is as successful as it is likely to be then it could be deadly for Sonos. However, Mr MacFarlane is confident that when the time is right Apple Music will be accessible on Sonos speakers.
