Snapchat updated its app with “Tap to View” feature to replace the press-and-hold functionality. Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snapchat, said in the Code Conference in May, “It’s just kind of annoying to hold your finger there for so long.”
Earlier, when users wanted to view a story or snap within Snapchat, they were annoyed because the Snapchat team designed the app in such a way that require users to press and hold down on their screens for the complete duration of whatever they want to watch in Snapchat.
For instance, if a user wants to view a 40-second video clip that his friend sent him, he needed to press and hold down on his phone screen for the entire 40 seconds. The entire process was kind of annoying and cumbersome because the user also has to cover some part of the screen while long pressing.
How to use the Snapchat updated Tap to View feature?
With the Snapchat updated tap to view feature, users no longer have to press and hold the screen to view a snap or a story send by their friends. They just have to tap on the snap or Story they want to watch and it will start playing. If they want to stop watching it, they just need to drag their finger down anywhere on the screen and it will be closed.
Snapchat updated its app with “Tap To View” feature and some other updates also which are as follows:
1. Snapcodes, like those QR- codes will now let friends easily add you by just scanning either the code or face via Snapchat camera.
2. A new “Add Nearby” feature will let you add friends quickly, who are nearby you.
3. SnapChat has also added a two-step authentication to add an extra layer of security on user accounts.
Snapchat updates will be around 18MB in size and are rolling out for Android and iOS users across the world.
