There were several rumors and leaks about Samsung’s slimmest smartphone and finally Samsung Galaxy A8 has been officially launched. The successor of Samsung Galaxy A7 is only 5.9mm thick, which is the Samsung’s slimmest smartphone till now. But it is not the slimmest smartphone in the market. The Smartphone like Vivo X5Max, Oppo R5 and Gionee Elife S7 feature 4.75mm, 4.85mm and 5.5mm thickness respectively.
What are the specs of the Samsung Galaxy A8?
The specs of the Samsung Galaxy A8 are quite impressive and better than its successor, the Galaxy A7. The phone features a 16MP rear facing camera and 5MP front facing camera along with a 3050mAh battery. It is equipped with a 5.7 inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display and will be powered by the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor (four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.0GHz + four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz).
The device also includes the Adreno 405 GPU for handling graphics and playing HD games, and has 2GB of RAM. Samsung’s slimmest smartphone boasts metal side bezels, near bezel-less screen and appears similar to the Galaxy S6 from the front.
Samsung Galaxy A8 is currently available in two variants of 16GB and 32GB inbuilt storage. It also features two SIM slots, of which one can also act as a microSD card slot. So users would either get a single-SIM support with microSD card expansion or a dual-SIM support without a microSD card expansion.
Samsung’s slimmest smartphone will be running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and also comes with a fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button. It also supports a hand-wave detection that can activate a photo timer. The Samsung Galaxy A8 is available in White, Black and Gold color variants and pre-orders are available only in China.
