Qualcomm has been revealing the details of Snapdragon 820 SoC due out next year in bits and pieces. Last week it revealed that the latest chip’s Smart Protect would fight malware in the mobile space thanks to the Zeroth technology. Now, Qualcomm revealed Snapdragon 820 Kryo CPU details.
Qualcomm revealed Snapdragon 820 Kryo CPU details:
According to the American Chip maker, its upcoming Snapdragon 820 SoC processor will provide twice the performance and power efficiency of the Snapdragon 810. It is being manufactured on the latest 14nm FinFET technology and has been designed to reach speeds up to 2.2 GHz. Qualcomm revealed Snapdragon 820 Kryo CPU details, according to which it will be a custom-built 64-bit architecture optimized for mobiles, like the earlier CPU family called Krait.
Qualcomm revealed Snapdragon 820 Kryo CPU details and in addition to that, it also disclosed Symphony System Manager (SSM). It is especially designed to manage the activity of processor for maximum efficiency and minimal power usage. The American Chip maker said that SSM will help manage computing tasks optimally between the GPU, DSP and CPU, which means it will automatically decide which loads belong best on which processor.
Due to more API support for the upcoming processor and enhanced efficiency, it can put particular tasks on the latest Hexagon 680 DSP instead of the GPU or CPU. Moreover, certain tasks like OpenCL compute may be appropriately handled by the new Adreno 530 GPU than the CPU.
Qualcomm revealed Snapdragon 820 Kryo CPU details, but it will be launched in 2016. So at this point, we can’t predict if it will be better than the previous generation or not. However, from all the details disclosed by the company, it seems that they have a potentially successful chip on their hands. We can also expect some amazing flagship phones after the launch of this processor.
