The American automaker has announced the new Ford Smartwatch apps for selected car owners. Through the updated MyFord Mobile app, some Ford owners will be able to access important data about their cars from the gadget on their wrist.
David Hatton, Ford’s Manager of connected vehicles and services, said in a statement:
“The app gives drivers the ability to quickly check important data like available range before leaving on a journey — without having to access the mobile application on their smartphone. The app can also notify users when their car is fully charged, helping a driver be courteous to other electric vehicle owners so they can free up the charging spot or avoid fees applied at some charging stations when you overrun your time after the charge is complete.”
Features of the new Ford Smartwatch apps:
The updated MyFord Mobile app will work with the Ford Focus Electric, Ford C-MAX Energi and Ford Fusion Energi. With the app car owners can access their battery charge status, lock and unlock their doors, and check their vehicle mileage summary.
The new Ford Smartwatch apps can also give you walking or driving directions back to your parked car. It will be helpful for those who forget the parking location of their cars. The app also gives you the ability to initiate preconditioning of vehicle cabin remotel.
The last trip feature of the app lets vehicle owner monitor their driving score – showing miles per gallon, trip miles, and braking and driving efficiency. The more efficiently you drive, the more green leaves will be shown. The updates also offer a Google Maps feature, which shows the availability of nearby charging stations.
You can download the new Ford Smartwatch apps from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store if your cars are compatible with it. The updated MyFord Mobile app has been designed to fit for both rectangular and round watch faces.
