What is so special about Mighty No. 9?
The launch of Keiji Inafune’s spiritual sequel to Mega Man closes one of the bigger chapters in crowdfunding history.
Back in 2013, Mighty No. 9 was a darling of Kickstarter, when it raised over $3.8 million from fans, who were eager to re-live Mega Man’s glory days.
It was a proof that game studios don’t need big investors or publishers to make their dreams come true.
Keiji Inafune Regrets The Delay
The fans of Mighty No. 9 are understandably upset about the delay.
Therefore, Inafune stated that this time the release date is set in stone and there will be no further delays. And also apologised for keeping the fans waiting.
It has been almost 3 years since the start of Kickstarter campaign, which was only made possible with the support of backers and fans around the world.
Last but not the least, Mighty No. 9 will have to win the upward battle if it wants to blast its way into the hearts of its avid fans who funded its development.
P.S. Inafune and team have learnt a hard lesson about managing expectations, and hopefully, other companies are taking note.
