Huawei, one of the promising smartphone brands today, already unveiled its brand new Honor C smartphone. The device is considered to be the most recent bid by the company to secure market share in the budget mobile handset segment. The segment is known to be highly competitive knowing that there are a lot of rivals, including the highly popular Xaomi Inc.
Huawei Honor C features a five inch display. This means that it has the same display size with Xaomi Mi 4 and slightly larger display compared to the iPhone 6 model. The device is available at an economical price of $129 or 799 Yuan. By comparison, Mi 4 is available at a price of $250 while iPhone 6 is at a whopping starting price of $750.
According to George Zhao, the marketing director of Huawei, Honor C device will be available mainly through online outlets, such as Alibaba Group Holding Ltd’s Tmall. Also, Zhao and Jeff Zhang, the vice president of Alibaba, also announced that the launching of the device coincided with the brand new phase of corporate ties between these two companies. However, they did not mention any detail regarding to it.
The firm said that it was able to sell more than 20 million Honor devices last year. Compared to the Xaomi that sold over 60 million mobile handsets within the same period, it is only a third of it.
