Google Unleashes 17 New Faces For Android Smart Watch
Google unleashes 17 new faces for android smart watch on Monday, adding to 1,500 already downloadable watch faces available in the Google Play store. Some of the new faces added to Google’s smart watch includes Angry Birds, Moomin, Hello Kitty, Bang & Olufsen, fashionable designs from the likes of Lulu Frost and Cynthia Rowley.
Feng Yuan Xu, Product Marketing Manager of Android Wear said that the latest collection of new faces offers smart watch users tons of variety to help them match any outfit, occasion or mood. Yuan Xu wrote in a Blog Post “Whether you’re into games or glamour, you’re sure to find a watch face that lets you wear what you want.”
However, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO seemed confident about the position of Apple Watch in the market, and said in a conference earlier this year “There are several things that are called ‘smart watches’ that are shipping, but I’m not sure you could name any [others]. Maybe you could. I’m not sure the audience could name very many. But certainly there’s been none that have changed the way people live their lives.”
Apple Watch also has distinctive watch faces and recently gave its owners the ability to put a photo or a collage from their gallery as the watch face. Furthermore, timelapse videos can also be added for watch faces that will coincide with the current time on the display.
Google tries to distinguish Android Smart Watch from Apple Watch with the launch of new faces for smart watch, but both Android Watch and Apple Watch offer similar features like voice-control navigation, fitness-tracking apps, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection.
