Facebook has introduced Donate Now button for non-profit organizations
Facebook has introduced Donate Now button, a new call to action button for non-profit organizations. This new option will join the earlier available options like Book Now, Contact Us, Learn More and Shop Now.
This is not for the first time that Facebook has introduced Donate Now button:
In late 2013, Facebook rolled out a “Donate” button, but it was limited to specific partners such as The Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. The Donate button was seamlessly integrated into pages for these non-profit organizations.
Facebook has introduced Donate Now button, and when users click the button on a non-profit organization’s page they are alerted that the organization is “Not endorsed by or affiliated with Facebook.” After clicking on continue users are then redirected to the non-profit organization’s external website where they can complete the transaction for the donation.
The company is doing that so that they can further themselves from donations, which are being given to unpopular non-profit organizations. The Donate Now button will be available for both link ads and Pages, and the tech company notes that this feature is not yet available for everyone.
A Facebook spokesperson said in a statement:
“Every day, people use Facebook to raise awareness and support for causes they care about and to motivate others to do the same. We’re inspired by how much good comes from these connections, so we’ve added ‘Donate Now’ calls-to-action on Pages and link ads to make those connections easier than ever.”
Facebook has introduced Donate Now button and it is also testing some other features on its site. The social media giant is testing revamped profile pages for mobile along with LinkedIn-like profile tagging feature, Instant Stories and live streaming.
