Comcast Monthly Internet Data Cap to be Increased to 1TB
Each one of us loves spending time on the internet, and sometimes we cross the data usage limits and end up shelling out more for extra internet. But this will not be the case anymore as Comcast monthly internet data cap will be increased after all those complaints about that very arbitrary cap.
What’s new about Comcast monthly internet data cap?
Comcast has finally announced but rather acquiescingly that it’ll boost its data cap from 300GB per month to honking 1TB from June 1, 2016.
It means fewer customers will need to buy unlimited data, however, it’ll cost them $50 a month instead of $30 or $35 to get unlimited access to the internet.
The overage fees will remain the same, i.e. $10 for each additional 50GB.
Marcien Jenckes, executive vice president for consumer services at Comcast Cable, said in a statement that a terabyte is an enormous amount of data and it is far more than most of their customers will ever use in a month.
What can you do with a terabyte?
A whole lot of activities – You can play 12,000 hours of online games, stream about 700 hours of HD videos, and download 60,000 photos in a month. Wow!!
And all this is not possible with a mere 300GB a month. Because the caps were so low that customers making heavy use of streaming services such as Sling TV or Netflix had a hard time avoiding overage charges.
But 1 terabyte will provide relief for the internet enthusiasts as more than 99 percent of Comcast customers do not come close to using a terabyte.
Summing up
The increased Comcast monthly internet data cap will definitely provide the Comcast customers the much-needed peace of mind to stream, game, surf, download, or do whatever they want online.
