Coldplay are said to be releasing a new album called A Head Full of Dreams before year’s end. Might “Amazing Day” serve as our first preview of the LP? The band debuted the ballad during their set at this weekend’s Global Citizen Festival in New York City. Watch pro-shot footage below.
According to Stereogum, Coldplay played the new track during a sound check and sure enough, we heard it last night during the actual performance.
Chris Martin served as curator of this year’s Global Citizen Festival in New York, so it was destined that the Coldplay singer had some big plans for the Central Park fest. Coldplay said on Twitter that their keys broke one minute before taking the stage, which meant that Chris and Ariana sang this piano-driven My Everything ballad on acoustic guitar instead. “This is about all the wonderful things that can happen on Earth when people work together”. The song was accompanied by handsome visuals of nature from around the world. It’s not going to win over Coldplay’s fervent haters, but for fans of the British rock group, it might be enough to hold them over until the album’s eventual release.
Grande went out on stage with Coldplay to perform her song “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart”, that was written by One Direction star, Harry Styles.
Meanwhile, other acts on the bill also got into the action, with Beyonce joining Ed Sheeran for “Drunk in Love“.
Coldplay was set to perform at the festival, but musician *Chris Martin wanted to bring up a guest who would make them “look better”.
