Audi R8 and Audi R8 Plus unleashed with a turbocharged engine
The German Automaker has unleashed Audi R8 and Audi R8 Plus with a turbocharged engine. The Audi’s Board members for development, which includes Ulrich Hackenberg and Audi Quattro head Heinz Peter Hollerweger detailed the monstrous power of the base model of Audi R8 in a few words, calling it ‘a forced induction, and the entry-level supercar.’ They also called it an introduction level supercar, which will compete with some other supercars including the Porsche 911 Turbo, Mercedes-AMG GT S and McLaren 570 S.
Comparison between Audi R8 Plus and Audi R8 Base Model
The Audi R8 Plus will come with a 5.2-liter V10 engine that can produce power of 610 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque. Due to its turbocharged engine the new Audi R8 can reach 100 kph in only 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 330 kph. If we compare it with the new base model of Audi R8, it reaches 100 kph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 323 kph and is capable to deliver an output of 540 horsepower.
“It is inevitable that we will go to a turbocharged motor for it at some point. It would be in this model cycle, to give us a fuller range…It’s quite unique to build naturally aspirated engines today and our customers love it. It doesn’t mean we are not going to do a turbo, but naturally aspirated is here to stay as well,” said Dr. Hackenberg, Audi’s board member for development.
Abundant thrust is provided in both Audi R8 and Audi R8 Plus by five cylinder engines that are built extremely powerful and is very light weighted. The base-model of Audi R8 will cost about $180,000, whereas the Audi R8 Plus will cost around $205,000.
