A couple of days ago LinkedIn removed the option to instantly download contacts file. According to their new methodology users could download all of their LinkedIn data at once and that process could take up to 72 hours. But after continuous protest by users, LinkedIn brings back Export Contacts Feature.

Many users of the professional social network were annoyed when they discover that they’ll have to wait for three days to download contact files. After the overwhelming response against the new methodology to download contact files, LinkedIn brings back Export Contacts Feature.

LinkedIn said that it changed the download process because it wanted to improve the download process to reduce the third party scraping. Actually, some people and companies download and use this data for unintended purposes.

LinkedIn brings back Export Contacts Feature and Michael Korcuska, Product Management VP writes in the blog post regarding it:

“We’ve heard you loud and clear – [up to 72 hours] is too long to have to wait for a download of connection information. Effective immediately, we have turned the CSV download link back on. We will keep the CSV connections tool available until we can reach that goal (some other data items will be available in an extended archive that may take longer to process). We will then turn this tool off again, as part of our ongoing anti-scraping efforts.”

Once again users can now export all of their contacts into an Excel file with their email, name and job title with a few clicks.

LinkedIn brings back Export Contacts Feature and if users want to download their contacts they need to navigate to the main ‘Connections tab’, and then click on the gear symbol in the right hand corner, and then under “Advanced Settings” click “Export LinkedIn Connections.”
